GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette this past weekend, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Property destruction, Nov. 1, Robin Drive, GPD
Officers responded to Robin Drive after a 29-year-old woman called to report someone cut her tire around 9 a.m., Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The woman said she recently had a verbal altercation with a man and suspected a 30-year-old woman was the culprit. The 30-year-old woman admitted to cutting the other woman’s tire and was cited for property destruction.
DWUI, Nov. 1, Highway 14-16, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 52-year-old man for impaired driving after stopping him for failing to maintain his lane of travel around 3:17 p.m., Sheriff’s Office Lt. Dan Maul said. The man was operating a silver Mazda and was unable to complete field sobriety tests successfully. He was taken into custody for DWUI based on observations.
Shoplifting, Nov. 1, North Gurley Avenue, GPD
Officers arrested a 32-year-old man on a felony shoplifting warrant after locating vehicles reportedly involved in two recent shoplifting incidents around 11:12 p.m., Wasson said. The man was cited for his involvement in a prior shoplifting incident reported by Menards, where he fled. The man also had a warrant for violating the terms of his parole.
Theft, Nov. 2, Decoy Avenue, GPD
A 26-year-old man called the police around 10:30 a.m. to report missing a $500 core processor that had recently been shipped to him, Wasson said. The man said the core processor package had been delivered but was mangled and appeared to have been re-taped. The core processor was not in the package, and the investigation is ongoing.
Public indecency, Nov. 2, Eagles Nest Circle, GPD
Officers responded to Eagles Nest Circle around 9:38 p.m. after a 21-year-old woman called to report seeing a man masturbating in a parking lot, Wasson said. The 36-year-old man had pulled his pants up and was leaning against a fence when officers arrived. He denied the woman’s allegations but was cited for public indecency.
Property destruction, Nov. 2, Little Powder River Road, CCSO
A 17-year-old boy received citations for driving on a closed roadway and property destruction after a deputy learned he attempted to drive his jeep over a dirt berm on old Highway 59 around 10:15 p.m., Maul said. The deputy was patrolling in the area and came upon a jeep stuck on a dirt berm near Little Powder River Road with several individuals attempting to free it. During the resulting investigation, the deputy learned the boy had intentionally driven his vehicle onto the berm, damaging barriers.
Theft from auto, Nov. 3, Jane Court, GPD
Officers responded to Jane Court around 1:10 p.m. after a 40-year-old man called to report his 9mm handgun stolen from his 2019 Chevrolet pickup, Wasson said. The handgun was in a holster and was valued at $816. An additional $80 in cash was also missing from the man’s vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing.
Theft from auto, Nov. 3, Gordon Street, GPD
An adult woman called the police to Gordon Street around 1:22 p.m. after someone reportedly stole her 9mm handgun from her 2019 Jeep, Wasson said. The firearm was valued at $250, and the investigation is ongoing.
Drugs, Nov. 3, Interstate 90, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 31-year-old man for drug possession after reportedly stopping him in a 2018 Chevrolet Express for speeding near Skyline Drive and Boxelder Road around 3:34 p.m., Maul said. The man was stopped at mile marker 124 on Interstate 90, where deputies could smell marijuana. A subsequent search yielded 25 grams of suspected marijuana and THC items.
