C17 Crime Clips for Friday, Nov. 1 | County 17

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Oct. 31, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Crash, Oct. 31, Nine Mile Creek Road, CCSO

Deputies responded to Nine Mile Creek Road near Highway 387 around 11:44 a.m. for a report of a diesel tanker crash, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. A 39-year-old man was reportedly life-flighted to Casper for shoulder and neck injuries. The tanker was hauling red diesel fuel, but no spills were observed. Additional details regarding the crash were unavailable at the time of press.

Agency assist, Oct. 31, American Road, CCSO

Deputies were dispatched to American Road after a resident called to report a potential elk or cow carcass around 3:05 p.m., Reynolds said. Animal control officers arrived at the scene first and confirmed the carcass was an elk. Wyoming Game and Fish Department personnel responded to the area and observed multiple wildlife violations, though no suspects have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.

Shoplifting, Oct. 31, East Lakeway Road, GPD

Officers responded to a home improvement store on East Lakeway Road to investigate a reported shoplifting where a man attempted to steal $799 in surveillance cameras around 5:51 p.m., Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The 43-year-old man reportedly fled from staff and threw the cameras into a shopping cart. He got into a car operated by a 44-year-old woman and occupied by a 58-year-old woman. Employees stopped the vehicle but the man was no longer in it when officers arrived, and he is believed to have fled. The 44-year-old woman told officers she didn’t know the man and had only picked him up to give him a ride to the home improvement store. She also admitted to seeing him being pursued by staff members and giving him a ride anyway. Officers cited her for theft.

Juvenile problem, Oct. 31, Campbell County, CCSO

More than a dozen juveniles were cited for underage drinking and a 15-year-old boy was cited for hosting a house party around 10:26 p.m. at a Campbell County address, Reynolds said. Deputies responded to the address after receiving an anonymous house party report. When they arrived, multiple juveniles ran but were ultimately located in the area.

Runaway, Oct. 31, Desert Hills Circle, GPD

Officers responded to Desert Hills Circle after a 41-year-old woman called to report a 15-year-old girl as a runaway around 10:36 p.m., Wasson said. The girl was last seen in a pink sweater, black pants and Converse tennis shoes. As of Nov. 1, she has not been located.

MIC, Oct. 31, 2nd Street, GPD

A 19-year-old man was charged with having a false ID following a traffic stop on 2nd Street near Burma Avenue around 1:41 a.m., Wasson said. The 19-year-old was stopped for speeding in a 2007 Chevrolet and driving without headlights. During the stop, officers could smell alcohol. The 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and two 18-year-old women were cited for consuming alcohol while under 21. Additionally, the vehicle was linked to a false ID report from earlier in the day where the 19-year-old man fled after making a failed attempt to purchase alcohol. Officers seized the ID.
